Does Senior Housing Solutions receive compensation from any of the senior living communities you recommend?

Senior Housing Solutions has developed key referral partnerships with a number of assisted living facilities in both Collier and Lee Counties.  We are compensated by these facilities if you choose to move there and if we are the point of first contact.  We pride ourselves in find the right fit for someone, so even if an assisted living facility is not on our preferred list and it is the better fit for you; we will provide the recommendation.  Should you be searching for independent senior living communities, we charge our clients a flat hourly rate on a retainer basis in order to provide objective and unbiased advice.

What is the difference between an Assisted Living Facilities (ALF) and an Independent Living Senior Living community?

In an independent living senior living community, you are able to care for yourself without any assistance.  Services will be provides to make your life easier such as dining, housekeeping and transportation, however it is assumed that if you are living in an independent living community that you are independent and do not need help with your activities of daily living (ADL).  In an assisted living facility, you might need some assistance with certain activities of daily living, such as medication reminding, help in the shower or transferring out of your bed.  Some independent living communities do not offer any assisted living while some assisted living communities offer independent living.  Yes, it is confusing and this is a key area of where we can help you. Please keep in mind that if you are searching for an assisted living facility for yourself or a loved one, our consulting advice is at no cost to you!

Are there different types of licenses for Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs)?

Yes there are.  A standard license, An Extended Congregate Care (ECC) and an Limited Nursing Services (LNS) license.  It is important to understand the capabilities and limitation of each of these licenses and know the licensure of the assisted living facility (ALF) you are considering.  Please contact us for FREE advice and we will be happy to discuss this with you.

How is Senior Housing Solutions different than A Place for Mom and other internet-based senior housing placement companies?

Once you fill out the form on one of these sites, you are immediately bombarded with phone calls from a person in a call center who cares very little about helping you.  Your contact information is sent to a number of facilities, which will in turn, bombard you with more phone calls.  You are treated like a “lead” rather than a live person. Many times, the person on the other end of the phone has never visited the communities and knows very little about the lifestyle or financial stability of the places they are recommending.   Your contact information is shared/sold to third party providers (i.e hearing aide companies, medical alert companies, life insurance companies, etc) , which in our opinion, is unethical.  The fine print will tell you they own this information and that you are giving them permission to use your contact information as they please.  You might gain a list of places in your area; however you know nothing about their history, operational issues, rate increases, or health care survey results of any of these places.

Senior Housing Solutions provides a very personalized service. We typically meet with you in the comfort of your own home and discuss your options with you one on one.  We take the time to understand who you are and what is important to you.  We discuss lifestyle, financial. medical, religious and other preferences you may have, so we can recommend places that best fit you own personal needs.
